Why The Sharp Kitchen exists
Most of us learn to cook with whatever knife happens to be in the drawer. Then one day you use a properly sharp, well-balanced chef’s knife — and everything changes. Vegetables fall apart under the blade, prep stops being a chore, and you start to understand why cooks get slightly obsessive about their tools.
The Sharp Kitchen exists to help you find that knife — and the sharpener, board and block that go with it — without the jargon wall, the snobbery, or the endless sponsored “best of” lists that somehow all recommend the same overpriced set. We lead with knives because that’s where an honest specialist can help most, and where a few careful choices make the biggest difference to how you cook.
How we work
We’re research-led. We read the manufacturer specs, weigh the reputable published reviews, watch the patterns in owner feedback, and screen for safety and recalls — then we write it up plainly. We’re not a testing lab and we’re not chefs; we’re keen home cooks who do the homework. You can read exactly how we make our calls in How we choose.
How we’re funded
The site is reader-supported. When we point you to a product, some of those links may earn us a small commission at no cost to you — which is what keeps the guides free. It never changes what we recommend. The full story is in our affiliate disclosure.
Who’s behind it
The Sharp Kitchen is written and run by Michael Probert, a lifelong home cook who got tired of not being able to find a straight answer about which knife to buy. If you’ve got a question, a correction, or a knife you love, he’d like to hear it — say hello via our contact page.
